Being Happy Despite the Conditions

It's been raining here in Portland. And I know we're known for it but it's been raining A LOT lately. I used to let it get me down but in the past few years, I've been going out for walks and riding my bike even if the weather is super crappy. I've found that even despite the weather, it still really feels good and a great mood lifter to get outside. I've heard Portlanders boast about never using an umbrella (just a raincoat). I used to never use one when I moved here too - but I realized whoever made that statement doesn't really walk. Maybe from a car to a building but if you walk a few miles, umbrellas really do help a lot. So I started using one again and not only are they super functional but they are charming as well. Using an umbrella also reminds me of my days of living in New York City. I've even grown fond of the windy days when my umbrella turns inside out and outside in a bunch.

Self Care

We're well into the season, it's getting cooler out and our bodies are adjusting. Remember to take care of yourself and that means physical as well as emotional. With less light and temperature drops, we tend to stay inside more. Get outside, take walks, eat good food, get ample sleep, don't talk about stuff that bothers you, day dream, write down lists of positive aspects about everything in your life (you can even write about general things you love) and always hang around uplifting people. Take care!

Happy Autumn ❤

October Stroll

Welcome to October! There's a fun instagram challenge called Inktober where you make all your art with black ink (or a single color ink) and it inspired me to make this piece of art. Our leaves haven't quite fallen off the trees yet but I've had my first hot soup of the season, made apple cinnamon muffins, the heat in the house kicked on and I've bundled up for my walks. I was even riding through a neighborhood the other night and it actually felt a little spooky! I think I've finally settled into Autumn and I'm ready for it.

Happy Wednesday ❤

Spirit Animal

Today's animal spirit totem is the jackrabbit (or desert hare). Rabbits are a symbol of fertility, abundance, spontaneity, nurturing and using your intuition. Being a visionary and planning your future with imagination and wisdom is what rabbit magic is all about. I picked the desert hare because they have amazing capabilities to survive in the desert. They are very sociable animals and are successfully busy animals at dusk and dawn.  If you see any kind of rabbit today, know this is what they are trying to say to you.

The Chariot

Ever feel like you've got something coming up in your itinerary and you don't want to do it? You know how at times you feel inspired to action and sometimes you really don't. We are constantly told to "do what you love" but sometimes even the things you love cannot inspire you to action. These kinds of feelings can cause you to question things. But question not, because all it is is that you are not energetically in the right place at the moment. Anything you don't want to do is only because you tell yourself you "have to" instead of you "get to". You've just got a little static in your vibration, so you've got to find a way to connect with yourself to move forward. It's your right to thrive and move forward, so it's up to you to listen and feel for the moment to inspired action.

Today's card I pulled is The Chariot. It's the major Arcana card that embodies the meaning of moving forward. It's not about aimlessly moving forward but having undivided attention towards your goals, desires and dreams. Focused intent with boundaries will tell you how far you can possibly go, so don't waste your time worrying about others perceptions or pressures to push you even further. This is a card of a lot of energy. The Chariot is charged up and ready to go! So if you're feeling a little lack-luster and unmotivated today, take the time to get centered and in alignment with your end desire before you get ready to move forward.

Happy Wednesday ❤
