Self Love

In keeping with the love theme this month, I wanted to share something about self love. Self love is so important; without it you become disconnected from your true nature and you can't love others or the things you do fully. If it's difficult for you to find self love, then just be 'loving' in everything you do. Being loving can mean anything from watering your plants to taking a mineral bath to talking kinder to yourself (and about yourself) or taking a walk. You can also value your needs above others and put yourself first. This can be a hard one when you have family or work pressure but it can be done. It's important to know that there is always a way for you to get what you need. Embracing this belief changes your energy and you will always be taken care of. These are just general loving type things to do that don't involve the typical way we think of love around Valentine's Day. It takes practice but the more you exercise just being loving you will understand self love. So, be creative and inventive with ways you can be your natural loving self. Here is another piece called 'Self Love' from my Love and Magic show at Land Gallery here in Portland.

The Wild Ride

Valentine's Day is coming up and I know there are lots of mixed feelings about this day for singles and couples alike. It's a mass marketed holiday that can feel a little bit contrived but when you think of the main message of the day - it's about LOVE. What not a better thing to celebrate? You don't have to be in a relationship to celebrate love. There are lot's of people you love in your life, in your past and even pets and things we love dearly. So let's just celebrate love! This piece is my favorite from my show Love and Magic at Land right now. I made this piece to embrace the wildness of love - current and past. Love is rad.

The Lovers

In keeping with the love theme until the 14th of this month, I wanted to introduce The Lovers tarot card. This card is the 6th card in the Major Arcana and usually is packed with lots of mythological symbols. This card represents relationships, choices, a temptation of the heart, a choice of potential partners or raw desire. The planets often associated with this card are Venus (love and pleasure), Jupiter (luck, success and generosity and Mars (physical energy and sex drive). There are lots of decks out there that rely on the symbols for easy card reading but there are lots of 'art decks' too. Here is my version of The Lovers Tarot. This piece is in my upcoming show at Land Gallery here in Portland. If you aren't here in town this Friday February 6th for the opening reception; you can catch and purchase pieces for the month of February and at this link when it goes live. Enjoy!

I Can See Your Aura

You have an aura, I have an aura, and plants and animals have auras too. Some people have the gift to see them. You can do this by being in a relaxed meditative state, shift your eye focus or just naturally see them without effort. You can research which method works best for you and find the different meanings of each color. It's really fun to try. If you can't get the hang of it right away, there is photography. The aura is made energetic layers each with its own frequency. The colors of your aura are ever changing so it depends on your thoughts, feelings, other people, environments, whats happening in your body, your life, etc. There's a company floating around town called Radiant Human and they are taking peoples picture of their auras using a special camera with hand sensors. The way the camera works is; the hand sensor contact points connect with certain organs of the body, as well as measure the electromagnetic field of the person. The hand sensors measure differences in temperature, humidity and static electricity in the environment and the person. A radiant colorful aura field is then captured on a Polaroid. It's really fun if the person taking your picture can give you an accurate reading of the meaning of your colors. I got one done a long time ago in New York City, along with a reading that was pretty accurate. It's so much fun.

What color would your aura be?
